Soulé Software is proud of not only our 25+ year company history but also of our
legacy in the industry that spans back 100 years.
In 1911, Edward Soulé founded a rebar placing business that helped pioneer the use
of reinforcing steel in the western United States. Edward had witnessed firsthand
the devastation of the 1906 earthquake while working as a civil engineer in San
Francisco, and foresaw the increasing need for steel reinforcement in new buildings.
Over the next several decades, all the while being family owned and operated, Soulé
Steel Company quickly grew from solely a placing business to operations that included:
9 fabrication/placing shops, a steel mill, a steel building division, an architectural
building products division, and some joint ventures overseas.

Edward’s three sons joined him in the business, and together they developed a corporate
culture that placed a high value on their employees, on providing a superior product
to their customers, and to maintain integrity in the business that bore their name.
In 1973, Sandy joined Soulé Steel as the first of the third generation to contribute
towards the success of the company. His degree in Electrical Engineering and MBA
studies helped bring new technological innovations to the company. He served as
Manager of the Steel Mill and later VP of Finance.
In 1985, when Soulé Steel closed its doors, Sandy began Soulé Software to serve
the same rebar fabrication and placing industry with many of the same tools he had
developed and used in the operations of Soulé Steel. Initially offering dedicated
phone line services to main frame computing, Soulé Software has kept pace with the
ever evolving software industry to give their customers the latest technologies.
In 1996, Sandy’s son Kevin joined the company as part of the 4th generation to serve
the rebar market.

Soule Software continues to experience dramatic growth and now serves more than
3,000 users in 12 countries.
The same commitment to excellence and customer service that distinguished Soulé
Steel over 100 years ago is actively carried on today by the entire staff at Soulé
Software.
